Adoption Reading Challenge

I can across the Adoption Reading Challenge during ICLW. I started my first book for the challenge Sunday night and finished it Monday afternoon! The book is Saving Levi: Left to Die... Destined to Live by Lisa Misraje Bentley. This book is a biography about a little boy in China who suffered horrible injuries, was left to die in a field and his amazing story of survival. Bentley also spends a lot of time discussing the impact of working with special needs orphans on her and her family .

I don't want to give any more details of the book, because I think you should read it....but, there are a few things in Bentley's book which are worth pointing out and do not give Levi's story away.....
In the book, Bentley touched on much more than adoption. She really touched on faith and how we need to live by our faith. One section of the book talked about faith and love. Bentley discusses how we are to show love within a Biblical principal... that love is a decision and an action... not a feeling. How true! If we all handled our personal relationships that way, and not just our children, how different our world would be!!

Bentley also quoted a Chinese Proverb in her book that struck a cord with me. "If your vision is for a year, plant wheat. If your vision is for 10 years, plant trees. If your vision is for a lifetime, plant people." As a teacher, as a friend and as a parent, that has always been my passion... to help others grow and develop into their God given potential.

I loved reading this book! It is now added to my list of 'must reads'.
