I have been so excited to see A & D. DH and I went to see them about six weeks ago. We had a wonderful visit. This time K and my parents were going with us. I am not going to lie, we were a little nervous to see them this time. It was K's second birthday when she saw them last....she will be four next week. There is a big difference between what she understood at the age of two compared to now. K is very comfortable with her adoption story. She talks about A & D often and loves to look at pictures of them. I was not at all worried about how A & D would act or what they would say. We were really unsure of what to expect from K. She has been very different around people she is not familiar with for the past 8 or 9 months. She is either extremely shy (sometimes to the point of crying) or acts like a crazy child. We were really hoping she would be calm and just be her sweet self.
When we first arrived at the restaurant, K was very shy. I was relieved when she warmed up and started talking to them. At one point, K said she needed to use the restroom. D also went with us. On the way back to the table, K ran up and took D's hand. The look on K's face was so sweet. My mom took a picture of K with A & D. I just love it! It is so precious to have all of our angels in one picture. It is one I will forever cherish!!!! There are no words that will ever express the way I feel about A & D. I am so thankful for what they have given us and the unbelievable impact they have everyday in my life.
I am still so amazed at the way everything has worked out. We applied for a semi-open adoption...with no visits after placement. We agreed upon 4 visits in the first 6 months at the hospital. I never thought back then we would be talking on the phone and planning visits four years later. This was not my plan, but I feel so blessed to have A & D in our lives. I am thankful that things are not like I hoped they would be. Just another awesome example of not my plan..... but His plan!
